Our History

“In order to rise From its own ashes A phoenix First Must Burn.”
~ Octavia Butler, Parable of the Talents

Witches’ Walk was originally concocted in 2011 by a group of local businesswomen. An idea to dress up as witches and bring business to the downtown area on an otherwise hum-drum Wednesday night was the original potion, and with only 20 participants! However, it bubbled into a brew that no one could see coming. In 2014 it became a charity event that has raised thousands of dollars for local organizations. After last year, Witches' Walk was about to be put to rest. But, it is written in the very words of our Opening Spell that, "The Witches' Walk shall never die!"  So, we decide to let it burn a little instead so that something new could rise. And from those ashes rose a true partnership with the very community that we hold so dear. What was known as "Witches' Walk" is now "Sandusky Witches' Walk," in order to incorporate the pride we have for this community into our very name. Hold on tightly to your brooms Witches...for the only way to rise is up!
